    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To separate and eliminate foreign matter in the air without enlarging the inner diameter of a swirl flow creating chamber.SOLUTION: This swirl flow generator is used for cleaning air by eliminating foreign matter such as liquid droplets and dust contained in the air. A blade cylindrical body part 34 is arranged inside a swirl flow creating chamber 24 in which air flows axially. The air that has flowed in axially along blades 35 is blasted radially inward into the blade cylindrical body part 34 to create a swirl flow. The air supplied axially into the swirl flow creating chamber 24 is guided to the inflow side end surface of the blade cylindrical body part 34 by a blocking cover part 38. A downward flow of air from the outside of the blade cylindrical body part 34 is hindered by an annular base part 33.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner having improved collection performance obtained by applying a sufficient swirling force to both of two portions in a swirl chamber when dust is separated at the two portions. SOLUTION: The vacuum cleaner is provided with: a suction opening body 1; an electric air blower 53; and a cyclone section 10 disposed between the suction opening body 1 and the electric air blower 53 and provided with an inlet opening 11, a swirl chamber 12, and a discharge opening body 15. The side wall of the discharge opening body 15 is configured of circular tube mesh 15b and circular cone mesh 15a. The side wall of the swirl chamber 12 is configured of a circular tube section 12b and a circular cone section 12a. The vacuum cleaner is also provided with a zero-order opening section 113 which is formed by opening a part of the circular tube section 12b, a first-order opening section 13 which is formed by opening a part of the circular cone section 12a, a zero-order dust case 114 which communicates with the swirl chamber 12 through the zero-order opening section 113, and a first-order dust case 14 which communicates with the swirl chamber 12 through the first-order opening section 13.
