    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ore slurry production method, which inhibits an increase in the viscosity of the ore slurry so as to prevent faulty transfer, and a metal refining method that utilizes the ore slurry production method.SOLUTION: The ore slurry production method in which an ore slurry is produced from a raw material ore includes: a crushing/classification step S1 in which a raw material ore is crushed, classification is performed and oversized ore particles are removed at a prescribed classification point in order to obtain a crushed ore slurry comprising undersized ore particles; a grain size measurement step S2 in which the grain size of the obtained crude ore slurry is measured; and an ore slurry concentration step S3 in which the crude ore slurry is fed into a solid-liquid separator, and moisture is separated and removed in order to concentrate the ore element. When the grain size measured in the grain size measurement step S2 has become lower than a predetermined value, some of the oversized ore particles that have been removed in the crushing/classification step S1 are additionally fed into the solid-liquid separator.
