    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a marine propulsion device capable of preventing damage to an engine cased by flooding.SOLUTION: The marine propulsion device includes an engine, a propeller, a drive shaft, an exhaust path, a water intrusion detecting portion, and a recording portion. The drive shaft transmits a driving force from the engine to the propeller. The exhaust path is a path through which exhaust from the engine passes. The flooding detecting portion detects the possibility of water intrusion indicating that water may have flow through the exhaust path into the engine. The recording portion records a result of detection by the water intrusion detecting portion.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an outboard motor that can give sufficient propulsive force at a required time, and to provide a marine vessel having the outboard motor.SOLUTION: The marine vessel includes an outboard motor and a hull. The outboard motor body is attached to the hull by an attachment mechanism so as to be rotatable around an axis of tilt. The outboard motor body is turned around the axis of tilt by a PTT mechanism. An inclination angle of the outboard motor body is detected by inputting an angle detection value from an angle detecting device to an ECU. The rotation speed of the engine is detected by inputting a speed detection value from a rotation speed detecting device to the ECU. The ECU does not execute speed reduction control to reduce the rotation speed of the engine, when the tilt angle of the outboard motor body is smaller than a full trim-in angle or is larger than a full tilt up angle.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vessel propulsion machine that promptly detects reverse rotation of a crankshaft.SOLUTION: An outboard motor includes: an engine including a crankshaft; a rotation speed detecting device for detecting a rotation speed of the crankshaft; a forward-reverse switching mechanism for transmitting the rotation of the crankshaft to a propeller; and a shift position detecting device for detecting a shift position of the outboard motor. When the crankshaft is rotationally driven by the engine in one rotational direction, oil is supplied from an oil pump to a lubricating flow passage, and an oil pressure corresponding to the rotation speed of the crankshaft is generated in the lubricating flow passage. An ECU performs reverse rotation prevention control when the oil pressure P2 in the lubricating flow passage after the forward-reverse switching mechanism is set from a forward drive state to a reverse drive state while the crankshaft is rotated, is less than a minimum value Pmin of the oil pressure in the lubricating flow passage while the crankshaft is rotated in one rotational direction.
