    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively remove image noise.SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus of one embodiment, comprises: a reference-image production part, a difference calculation part, a weight calculation part, and a pixel value calculation part. The reference-image production part generates a reference image from a target image by performing at least any one of powering up a first frequency band containing a signal component of the target image and powering down a second frequency band containing a noise component of the target image. The difference calculation part calculates respective differences between a first region within the reference image and multiple second regions within the reference image. The weight calculation part calculates respective weights of the multiple second regions that are bigger as the differences are smaller. The pixel value calculation part applies the weights calculated in the reference image to the target image and calculates output pixel values by performing weighted-averaging of pixel values within the target image.
