SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus includes an edge determination unit 101, a corresponding position calculation unit 102, and a pixel value calculation unit 103. Based on pixel values of pixels in a frame of low-resolution image data, an edge region within the frame is detected, and it is determined whether or not each of the pixels is within the edge region. The pixels within the edge region of the frame are sequentially set, one by one, as a concerned pixel. Corresponding positions of the concerned pixels along an edge direction are calculated with decimal precision. Estimate pixel values of pixels of an estimate image are determined, inside the edge region, by: interpolation processing based on the pixel values of the frame, an equal luminance line segment constituted of the calculated corresponding positions and pixel positions of estimate pixels; or interpolation processing based on the pixel values of the frame, in a region other than the edge.
