    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method of an optical film or sheet having excellent mechanical strength and values of retardation (Re) in a plane direction and retardation (Rth) in a thickness direction of -4 nm or more and 4 nm or less.SOLUTION: The production method includes the following steps 1 to 3, which are sequentially carried out, to obtain an optical film or sheet having Re and Rth of -4 nm or more and 4 nm or less and a yield strength or breaking strength of 50 MPa or more with a breaking elongation of 2% or more. Step 1: An active energy ray-curable composition containing a compound having two or more ethylenically unsaturated groups is applied or cast onto a support body. Step 2: A coating film or a dried coating film of the composition is irradiated with active energy rays to produce a film or sheet type cured product. Step 3: The cured product is heat-treated at a temperature determined by subtracting 20°C from the glass transition temperature of the cured product, or a temperature higher than the determined temperature.
