    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylinder liner used in the cylinder block of an internal combustion engine, vertically having a difference in thermal conductive state, and having a sufficient joining force between the outer peripheral surface of the cylinder liner and the cylinder block. SOLUTION: The adhesiveness of the outer peripheral surface 6 of the liner to a thermally sprayed layer 10 is higher than that to a lower side area 6b since only an upper side area 6a is rough-finished. Accordingly, a difference vertically occurs in thermal conductive state, and the temperature of the wall of a cylinder bore 2b can be set within an appropriate temperature range. Even if the adhesiveness of the outer peripheral surface 6 of the liner becomes lower on the lower side area 6b, since a narrow projection 8 is formed on the outer peripheral surface 6 of the liner in a predetermined distribution state, a joining strength between a cylinder liner body 2a and a thermally sprayed layer 10 and a joining force between the cylinder liner body 2a and the cylinder block through the thermally sprayed layer 10 are sufficiently large. Consequently, the roundness of the cylinder bore 2b can be sufficiently highly maintained and a fuel economy can be prevented from being deteriorated due to exhaust loss and mechanical loss.
