    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for recovering the metal salt of 6,6'-(ethylenedioxy)di-2-naphthoic acid from an aromatic polyester waste including a 6,6'-(ethylenedioxy)di-2-naphthoic acid component.SOLUTION: The polyester contains 100-1 mol% of the 6,6'-(ethylenedioxy)di-2-naphthoic acid component represented by formula (1), 0-99 mol% of the other dicarboxylic acid components, and alkylene glycol components. The method for recovering the metal salt of 6,6'-(ethylenedioxy)di-2-naphthoic acid sequentially includes: a process (a) of reacting the polyester with at least one metal compound selected from the group consisting of alkali (earth) metal hydroxides and alkali (earth) metal carbonates in the coexistence of water or glycol; and a process (b) of recovering the metal salt of 6,6'-(ethylenedioxy)di-2-naphthoic acid from a reaction product obtained by the process (a).

Step (a): a reaction step in which the copolymerized polyester and at least one metal compound selected from a group constituted of an alkali metal hydroxide and so on are made to react with each other in the coexistence of water or a glycol solvent; step (b): a step in which a reaction product of step (a) is subjected to solid-liquid separation so as to be separated into a solid component and a liquid component, and the metal salt of 6,6'-(ethylenedioxy) di-2-naphthoic acid is recovered as the solid component; step (c): a step in which the solid component obtained in step (b) is cleaned with an aqueous solution with pH adjusted to 6 or more.

A method for producing a metal salt of 6,6'-(ethylenedioxy)di-2-naphthoic acid sequentially includes: a process (a) of reacting the copolyester and at least one type of metallic compound selected from the group consisting of a hydroxide of an alkali metal, a carbonate of alkali metal, an organic acid salt of alkali metal, an hydroxide of alkali earth metal, a carbonate of alkali earth metal and an organic acid salt of alkali earth metal in the presence of water or a glycol solvent; and a process (b) of adjusting the pH of the liquid containing the reaction product obtained by the process (a) to 13.0 or more, and carrying out the solid-liquid separation of the resultant material into a solid component and a liquid component to collect the metal salt of 6,6'-(ethylenedioxy)di-2-naphthoic acid as a solid component.

Step (a): a reaction step in which the copolymerized polyester and at least one metal compound selected from a group constituted of an alkali metal hydroxide and so on are made to react with each other in the coexistence of water or a glycol solvent with an amount by weight of 2 to 20 times that of the copolymerized polyester; step (b): a step in which a reaction product of step (a) is subjected to solid-liquid separation so as to be separated into a solid component and a liquid component, and the metal salt of 6,6'-(ethylenedioxy) di-2-naphthoic acid is recovered as the solid component.
