摘要： PURPOSE:To calculate density by detecting the fluctuation width of an output signal corresponding to the amt. of the smoke in exhaust gaseous flow fluctuating according to the respective states of the suction, compression, explosion and exhaust of an engine. CONSTITUTION:A smoke sensor is installed in the exhaust gas flow passage of the engine and the sensor output when the smoke is generated from the engine is a ripple (AC) waveform. The four basic waveforms exist between the pulses of 1P/2 revolutions (one pulse is emitted by two revolutions of the engine) and respectively correspond to any of 4 cylinders in case of the 4 cylinders. The min. points of the respective waveforms indicate the max. value of the smoke density and the max. points indicate the min. value of the density (the value nearly zero density) and, therefore, the absolute value of the peak value of the smoke density is obtd. if the peak to peak value is obtd. The peak to peak value increases with an increase in the smoke density and the momentary differences between the value near zero density and the max. value are taken and, therefore, the temp. drift component of the zero point is automatically removed and the density detection with the good S/N is executed.

摘要： PURPOSE:To obtain the correct density by compensating the zero point of a sensor output by introducing the air for comparison standard into a smoke sensor by the venturi negative pressure and detecting the smoke density accord ing to the sensor output at the time of introduction of where exhaust gas and the sensor output when atmosphere is introduced. CONSTITUTION:A selector valve 59 performs switching between the first position where exhaust gas is introduced into a smoke sensor 58 and the second position where atmosphere is introduced through an air filter 60. At the first position, the smoke density is detected, and at the second position, zero-point correction is carried out, and the smoke density is detected with high precision. The smoke sensor 58 has two quartz glass rods 62 and 64 in a body 61. The detection light supplied from a light introducing optical fiber is transmitted to the quartz glass rod 64 from the quartz rod 62 through a prism 68. The light receiving quantity of a light detector connected with the optical fiber connected with the quartz glass rod 64 varies according to the smoke density in exhaust gas, and the smoke density can be detected.

CONSTITUTION:Oil pressure in a plunger room 25 is detected by a pressure sensor 30. A computer 42 finds the actual open/close operation of an inlet valve 34 (the opening timing, the amount of lift and the closing timing of the inlet valve 34) based on oil pressure in the plunger room 25 associated with the open/close operation of the inlet valve 34 and detected by the pressure sensor 30, to modify the coefficient of correction so that the deviation between the intended open/close operation of the inlet valve 34 and the actual open/close operation of the inlet valve 34 can be reflected to the next open/close control of the inlet valve 34. As a result, the real operation of the inlet valve 34 can be detected, and the operation in an optimum condition is always allowed by the computer 42 which controls the operation timing and period of a pressure oil supply valve 8 and a pressure oil discharge valve 60.

摘要： PURPOSE:To smoothly pass high pressure steam above a cooling water passage to a reserve tank and to suppress counterflow by making a minimum sectional area of a passage at an entering side of the reserve tank 1.5 to 3 times as large as a minimum sectional area of a passage at a discharging side. CONSTITUTION:Orifices A, B and C are provided in three pipes 8, 9 and 10 connected to a reserve tank 3. Since it is necessary for pressure in the upper part of a radiator 2 not to extremely exceed its withstanding pressure, namely, the relief pressure of a cap 11 even under this state, the total are of the openings of the orifices A and B at an entering side to the reserve tank 3 must be made 1.5 times or more as large as that of the orifice C at a discharging side. Since pressure at an inlet portion 12 of a cooling water pump 6 is extremely lowered to generate cavitation, pump efficiency is lowered with the decrease of the amount of circulating water and cooling performance is lowered, it is necessary to have an opening area ratio of three times or lower.

A thermostat valve 12 and a jiggle valve 13, closed by its own weight and also opened by a pressure from a pump chamber 3, are provided in an inlet side cooling water pipe 10 in the vicinity of the upward of the pump chamber 3. Air in the pump chamber 3 opens the jiggle valve 13 to move into the inlet side cooling water pipe 10 and also impeding movement of air toward the pump chamber 3 from the inlet side cooling water pipe 10.

Therefore, the atmosphere and the exhaust gas can be smoothly introduced into an air intake pipe 18.

The heatexchanger 4 is concen tric double tube type heatexchanger where its inner tube 41 is coupled between the exhaust manifold 12 and the exhaust tube 3 and an outer tube thereof 42 is coupled to a bypass tube 21 branched from the intake tube 2. A changeover valve 6 for selectively opening/closing the bypath 21 and the intake tube 2 is provided at the downstream side opening of the bypass tube 21. Under heavy load of engine, said changeover valve 6 is closed by means of a computer 7 based on detection values from an intake temperature sensor 81, a water temper ature sensor 82, an accelerator opening sensor 84, a rotation sensor 83, etc.
