    • PURPOSE:To accurately measure smoke density by providing a pulse driving circuit for a light emitting element and outputting the output difference of a light receiving element driven with pulses as a smoke density signal through a differential circuit. CONSTITUTION:A driving circuit 602 receives the signal of a timing generating circuit 601 to supplies a pulse signal S1 with a voltage VD to an LED 4 according to a signal T1, the V0 is varied with the output S0 of an integration circuit 606, and a phototransistor 5 generates an output S2. A circuit 603 holds the output S2 for a time T2 and the circuit 604 holds the output S2 of the PT 5 for a time T3. A differential amplifier 605 generates a differential output S5 with the outputs of the circuits 603 and 604. The influence of disturbing light is canceled by the circuits 603 and 604. An integration circuit 606 generates the mean output S6 of the output S5 and the output is fed back to the driving circuit 602 to control the VD. A differential amplifier 607 generates a differential output S7 based upon the S5 and S6 and a variation quantity detecting circuit 608 generates the peak-to-peak value of the AC component of the output S7 as the smoke density signal S. Consequently, the influence of the disturbing light is eliminated, drift and gain variation at three points is small, and a measurement error is small.

    • PURPOSE: To detect a combustion condition more exactly by a method wherein an ignition timing is determined based on the result of comparation of a measuring signal obtained from the output signal or the like of a pressure detector with an output data read out of a memory in accordance with said signal.
      CONSTITUTION: A timing detector 2, operating the measuring timing under synchronizing with the rotation of a crank shaft and equipped with an angle detector 22 as well as a reference position detector 23, and the pressure detector 1, utilizing a piezo element, are provided to input the output signals of both detectors into an ignition timing decision circuit 3. In the decision circuit 3, the output of the pressure detector 1 is converted into a pressure waveform by a charge amplifier 31 at first, then, the output thereof is processed in an A/D converter 32 by the timing of the output of said angle detector 22. Subsequently, the output of the A/D converter is compared in a comparator 33 with the output of an ROM34, memorizing an output corresponding to a compressive pressure in respective crank angles upon non-igniting of the engine, and the ignition timing is determined in accordance with the result of the comparation.

    • PURPOSE: To simplify the manufacture of the titled detector, to facilitate the assembly thereof and to increase its reliability for long employment, by providing a cut in a part of a ring-shaped belleville spring which applies a load on a piezoelectric element, and by making the outer periphery of the spring engage with a staged portion formed on the inner periphery of housing.
      CONSTITUTION: A belleville spring 30 having a cut 30a made in a part is provided for applying a load on a piezoelectric element 100, and the outer periphery thereof is made to engage with a cut staged part 400a of a housing member 4. On the piezoelectric element 100a preset load is applied uniformly through the intermediary of a weight 101 and the belleville spring 30. Therefore, it is unnecessary to make a hole in the piezoelectric element 100, and thus the manufacture is simplified. In addition, the provision of the cut 30a in the belleville spring 30 facilitates the assembly, and the belleville spring 30 is prevented from slipping out. Thus, the reliability for long employment can be increased.

    • PURPOSE:To decide on ignition when a positive-directional output is large or extinction when small and to detect an ignition limit by comparing the output of a positive-directional peak holding circuit with that of a negative-directional peak holding circuit through a comparator. CONSTITUTION:The output of the positive-directional peak holding circuit 32 is compared with the output of a negative-directional peak holding circuit 33 by the comparator 34. When the positive-directional output is larger than the negative-directional output, the output of the comparator 34 rises in level to decide on ignition, and when the positive-directional output is smaller than the negative- directional output, the output of the comparator 34 falls in level to decide on extinction. The output timing of the comparing circuit 34 is so determined by the output of a timing arithmetic circuit 24 by opening a gate. Consequently, the ignition limit is detected practically and accurately.

    • PURPOSE:To contrive to enhance detection accuracy, by a method wherein pressure change per angle is detected and it is detected that the quotient obtained by dividing the differentiate value of a max. pressure value by the differentiate value directly before ignition reaches a definite value. CONSTITUTION:The change rate of combustion pressure is detected by a pressure detector 1 and engine rotation is detected by an angle detector 2. Measuring timing is calculated in a timing operation circuit 24 by the output of the angle detector 2 and the output value of the pressure detector 1 is taken in a sample hold circuit 33. The max. output value of the pressure detection value is taken in a peak hold circuit 32 and divided by the output of the sample hold circuit in a division circuit 34. This division value and the output value of a reference voltage generating circuit 35 are compared by a comparison circuit 36. By this method, knocking detection can be accurately performed.
