    • PURPOSE:To improve the purging faculty by installing a purge air selector means for selecting the stream of the purge air according to the swelling state of an organic polymer layer and introducing the purge air into an organic polymer layer when the organic polymer layer is swollen. CONSTITUTION:A selector mechanism 18 formed at the inside center position of an organic polymer layer 15 is constituted of a valve 14 and a leaf spring 21, and the valve 14 is shifted in the vertical direction by the leaf spring 21 in deflected state. The outer shape of a filter 17 is changed by the pressure due to the swelling of the organic polymer compound 16 introduced into the lower part of the filter 17, and the volume change due to the swelling is concentrated at the part opposed to the leaf spring 21, and urges the leaf spring 21 upwardly through the filter 17. A large quantity of liquid fuel and high boiling point vapor are absorbed by the organic high polymeric layer 15, and when the organic polymer compound 16 is swollen, the first branched passage 13 is closed by the selector mechanism 18, and the second branched passage 24 is opened. In this state, the purge air introduced from an atmosphere conduit 25 is sucked into an engine, and the fuel caught by a canister 1 is discharged.

    • PURPOSE:To ensure a regularly normal purge action by providing a bypass means for communicating a purge conduit with an active charcoal layer when the negative pressure of the purge conduit is a determined value or more, in a one having an active charcoal layer and an organic polymer layer in which the purge conduit is communicated with the organic polymer layer. CONSTITUTION:A canister body 2 is partitioned by porous plates 3-5 into three layers, and an active charcoal 8 is charged in an active charcoal layer 7 in the top part. A space layer 11 and an organic polymer layer 15 are formed in the middle and the bottom part, respectively, and an organic polymer compound 16 is charged in the layer 15. A space chamber 18 is formed in the internal center position of the organic polymer layer 15, so that vapor can be introduced into the space chamber 18 through a porous plate 19 and a filter 20. On the upper wall of the space chamber 18, a valve 14 energized upward by a spring 21 to clog a bypass hole 22 is provided, so that the valve 14 is opened against the spring 21 when the organic polymer compound 16 is in swollen state and an intake negative pressure is applied to a purge port 24 to increase the negative pressure value in the space chamber 18.

    • PURPOSE:To hold a seal member in a non-load state during no need for a seal and to prevent the occurrence of permanent deformation, by a method wherein when a cap is inserted in a fuel suction port, a seal member forced into resilient contact with the outer periphery of a nozzle is pressed through a guide member by means of a pusher. CONSTITUTION:A fuel injection port 21 is formed with a cylindrical body part 23 in which a fuel cap is inserted, and a seal member 31 having a seal part 35 formed into resilient contact with the outer periphery of a fuel injection nozzle 19 disposed on the inner periphery of the body part 23. In this case, when the nozzle 19 is inserted in the body part 23, a guide member 41 is moved through a nozzle support part 47, and a seal part protecting part 43 is separated away from a seal part 35 and brought into close contact with the nozzle 19. Meanwhile, when a fuel cap is inserted in the body part 23, a cap support part 101 of a pusher 100 is brought into contact with the fuel cap, the guide member 41 is pressed by a press part 110, and the seal part protecting part 43 is separated away from the seal part 35.
