    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate exchanging work of a thermal shield and a sealing mechanism and improve the load factor of a reactor so as to place a refueling machine body in the reactor even during reactor operation. SOLUTION: This device for fast breeder reactor is constituted of a refueling machine body 10 provided with a gripper at the lower end by way of a holden shaft inserted in a rotational plug 1 freely rotatable and movable up and down, and a holden driver 3 fixed on the rotational plug 1. In the up and down motion housing 20 of the device body 10, thermal and radiation shield mechanism 19 layered with thick plates and thin plates is placed. By this, it is always installed in the reactor even during reactor operation and placing and removing works of the refueling equipment in refueling work can be avoided so that the load factor of the reactor operation can be improved.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To execute a highly reliable reactivity control suppressing the initial excess reactivity of a fast reactor and realizing multiplexing of safety rod scrams by compact equipment. SOLUTION: The fast reactor comprises a reactivity control assembly 26 including a safety rod 51 disposed inside a wrapper tube 220 and a plurality of neutron absorbers 52 suppressing the initial excess reactivity, a safety rod driving mechanism for separating the safety rod 51 and a plurality of neutron absorber driving mechanisms capable of moving the individual neutron absorbers 52 vertically. The safety rod driving mechanism separates the safety rod with a gripper provided at the bottom end of an outer extension tube by turning off the power source of a holding magnet in case of a scram to drop an inner extension tube. The neutron absorber driving mechanism is provided with a double-tube drive shaft consisting of an outer extension shaft and an inner extension shaft. When gripping the neutron absorber 52, lifts the outer side extension shaft, inserts the two extension shafts, moves the outer extension tube downward after reaching a neutron absorber handling head 60, and moves the neutron absorber vertically after gripping the neutron absorber from outside with a latch finger. An arm 42 is provided on the lower end of the fuel exchanging machine body, and a holding down tube 43 is connected to the edge of the arm. The holding-down tube has a tube body 74, a gripper for fuel gripping 75 liftably and rotatably provided in the inside, and a plurality of shafts for lifting and lowering and rotation transmitting the power of the driving part of the fuel exchanging machine body through the arm to the gripper. The gripper 75 is arranged in the substantially center position of the lateral cross section of the tube body. A plurality of shafts for lifting and lowering and rotation are arranged in the area of the tube body located in the side of the fuel exchanging machine body for the gripper and in the contrary side.
