    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nuclear fuel replacement device for performing replacement work of a fuel assembly and reactor-core internal structure in a short period of time. SOLUTION: This nuclear fuel replacement device comprises a traveling carriage traveling on a rail track 18 provided above a nuclear reactor pressure vessel 15, a traversing carriage moving on the traveling carriage in a direction perpendicular to the track, and a fuel gripper 9 mounted on multi-stage extension masts 1 and 2 hung down from the traversing carriage for performing insertion and extraction of the fuel assembly 13 with respect to the pressure vessel, and adapted to load the fuel assembly to the pressure vessel and extract it therefrom. The extension masts are each given an upper/lower two-part structure comprising upper mast parts 1a, 1b, 1c, ... and lower mast parts 2a, 2b, 2c, .... The fuel gripper is moved up and down while the upper mast parts are used to guide the lower mast parts. When handling the fuel assembly, the construction of upper/lower two-part type masts dispenses with speed reduction at each joint between mast stages as seen in relevant art. This resultantly shortens per-unit handling time for fuel assemblies. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI

    • PURPOSE:To enable the amount of any unnecessary liquid which remains during B/F separation to be minimized by intermittently and repeatedly absorbing the unnecessary liquid from a reaction container with a spherical bottom portion through a nozzle having a flat opening and a notched portion provided in the side wall thereof. CONSTITUTION:A sample and at least an antibody-solidfying carrier liquid are separately infused into a reaction container 10 and any unnecessary liquid containing nonreacted antigens in the sample is removed by a nozzle 13. In this case the reaction container 10 whose bottom portion 10a is spherical is used and the nozzle 13 whose end opening 13a is flat and which has a notched portion 13b formed in the side wall thereof is used. Therefore no dead space is formed and the liquid is hard to remain and any remaining liquid on the bottom portion 10a can be efficiently absorbed. This absorption is intermittently repeated by the nozzle 13 so that the remaining liquid dropping from the inner wall of the container 10 can also be absorbed efficiently. The amount of the unnecessary liquid which remains during B/F separation can thus be reduced to its minimum.
