    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic flowmeter capable of performing apparatus abnormality judgement only when necessary without generating misjudgement for an apparatus abnormality and a flow rate abnormality.
      SOLUTION: An ultrasonic flowmeter comprises; a time measuring means measuring the propagation time of an ultrasonic signal that is transmitted and received between a pair of ultrasonic vibrators 11a, 11b placed apart a certain distance from each other on the upper stream side and the lower stream side of a gas passage 10c, in which a fluid to be measured flows; a flow rate measuring means measuring the flow rate of the fluid to be measured based on the propagation time measured by the time measuring means; a voltage measuring means measuring the voltage level of the receiving signal of the ultrasonic signal; an abnormality detecting means detecting abnormality at least one of the apparatus abnormality and flow rate abnormality based on the voltage measuring means and the flow rate measuring means; and an installation state detecting means detecting the installation state of the ultrasonic flowmeter. The abnormality detecting means judges whether the detecting at least one of abnormality between the apparatus abnormality and flow rate abnormality is to be performed or not based on the installation state of the ultrasonic flowmeter detected by the installation state detecting means.

An earthquake determination means 13c collates the presence or absence of the reception of oscillation data from the other gas meters by the oscillation data reception part 13b with the presence or absence of the detection of oscillation data by the oscillation detection means 10 and determines the presence or absence of the occurrence of earthquakes on the basis of prescribed criteria of determination. A supply/shutoff means 13d shuts off gas pipes in the case that the earthquake determination means 13c has determined the occurrence of earthquakes and does not shut off the gas pipes and leave them open in the case that it has determined otherwise.
