SOLUTION: The gas meter comprises a multi-stage seismoscope 1 having a first seismoscope 10 for detecting vibration at a specific sensitivity for outputting as a pulse signal; a second seismoscope 11 for detecting vibration with lower sensitivity than a specific one for outputting as a pulse signal; a detection circuit 2 for detecting whether a pulse signal from the first seismoscope includes pulses exceeding specific width at least by a specific number within specific time; a time measurement circuit 3 for detecting whether or not a time difference, until a pulse signal is outputted from the second seismoscope after a pulse signal is outputted from the first seismoscope is equal to or more than specific time; and a controller 7 for breaking gas supply, when it is detected that pulses exceeding specific width are included at least by a specific number within specific time using a detection circuit, and the time difference is equal to or more than a specific time in a time measurement circuit.
