摘要： PURPOSE:To obtain a road-surface-condition detecting method that can easily be installed and provides detection over a relatively-broad range, by deciding the state of a road surface on the basis of difference in direct reflection factor and diffused reflection factor of light on the road surface according to the state of the road surface and a road-surface temperature. CONSTITUTION:Of light projected from projector 1 and then reflected on road surface 4, light of direct reflection and that of diffused reflection are photodetected by photodetector 11 for direct reflection and photodetector 21 for diffused reflection respectively. Output signals of filters 14 and 24, containing information on the state of the road surface obtained from the light of direct reflection and that of diffused reflection, are input to comparators 15 and 16, and 25 and 26 respectively, thereby deciding one of the wet state, snow state and dry state. Further, microprocessor 40 classifies finally the state of the road by four kinds of dry, wet, frozen and snow states on the basis of the decision result of the road-surface state by the information from the light of direct reflection and that of diffused reflection, and a temperature detection signal from radiation thermometer 31. Thus, the state of the road surface can accurately be detected over a broad range.

摘要： PURPOSE:To obtain a detecting method that can easily be equipped and detect a road-surface state, especially a snow state with accuracy, by deciding the state of the road surface on the basis of difference in direct reflection factor and diffused reflection factor of infrared rays on the road surface according to the road-surface state and a road-surface temperature. CONSTITUTION:Of light projected from projector 1 and reflected on road surface 4, light of direct reflection and that of diffused reflection are photodetected by photodetectors 11 and 12 for direct reflection and diffused reflection respectively and then converted into electric signals. By making use of characteristics that the reflection factor of the surface of snow decreases according to a shift from the visual light range to the infrared-ray range, filters 14 and 24 supply comparators 15, 16 and 25 with output signals containing information regarding the state of the road surface. On the basis of the decision result of the road-surface state from comparators and a temperature detection signal from radiation thermometer 31, microprocessor 40 makes the final decision to classify the road-surface state by four kinds of dry, wet, frozen and snow states. Thus, the road-surface state, especially the snow state can be detected with accuracy.

摘要： PURPOSE:To detect condition of frozen road surface accurately without being affected by sprayed snow-melting agent and variation in meteorological conditions, ete., by detecting condition of freezing by determining difference in near infrared absorption between water and ice using a road surface condition determining circuit. CONSTITUTION:A light-projecting passage 3 is attached to the top of a supporting column 5, and an infrared ray receiver 1 and a visible light receiver 2 are attached to a supporting arm 6. An infrared ray reflecting light signal put out from the light receiver 1 is amplified to an appropriate level by an amplifier 11 and sent over to a low region passing filter 12 to have the outside turbulence noise removed and then put into comparators 13 and 14. A visible light reflecting light signal put out from the light receiver 2 is also processed in the same manner. A discriminating level A1 is set between output level of a filter 12 in frozen condition and the same output level in snow-covered or wet condition, and an output 1 is generated when the output A1 is exceeded.
