摘要： PURPOSE:To enable the linear and even formation of the titled device in continuous length by a method wherein an amorphous layer is formed on a wire by passage of the wire through a discharge-decomposed atmosphere of a raw material gas. CONSTITUTION:A center conductor wire 1 serving as the substrate of a solar battery turns into a wire 2 with a solar battery layer after passage through the centers of reaction baths 8, 9, and 10. This wire is supported by guide rollers 12. For silane decomposition, the raw material gas 13 introduced through a gas introduction port 4 is decomposed by means of a coil 3. A coil peripheral member 11 on the wall of the reaction baths should be an insulator so that an electromagnetic field generating in the coil may be transmitted into the baths. For example, quartz glass of the like can be used. The baths are exhausted from vacuum exhaust ports 6 in order to keep the gas pressure therein at a desired pressure, and then the pressure is kept constant by control of the exhaust capacity. In the case of using for example a P-I-N structure as the solar battery structure, a P-layer reaction bath 8, an I-layer one 9, and an N-layer one 10 are provided, and the coil length is varied in proportion to the film-forming time per unit length.

Since the transparent conductive film 3 does not have so large an electric conductivity, an electricity lead 5 which leads electricity to the end of the wire is mounted on this conductive film. The material of the lead 5 is needed to be a good conductor, and an Al wire, Au wire, or the like is used.
