    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for regulating a pH of a sample solution, using a micro fluid element, without providing a process for adding and/or removing a solution for regulating the pH.
      SOLUTION: This method of regulating the pH of the sample solution includes a process for making the solution containing a compound of a standard oxidation-reduction potential lower than that of water flow from a flowing-in port of an anode chamber into the anode chamber, using the micro fluid element provided with an electrolytic element with the anode chamber and a cathode chamber, a process for making the solution containing a compound of a standard oxidation-reduction potential higher than that of water flow from a flowing-in port of the cathode chamber into the cathode chamber, a process for impressing a voltage to electrodes provided in the anode chamber and the cathode chamber to conduct electrolysis, and a process for mixing electrolytes in the anode chamber and the cathode chamber with the same volume, and volumes of the anode chamber and the cathode chamber are regulated at a prescribed ratio according to the target pH of the sample solution obtained by mixing the electrolytes in the anode chamber and the cathode chamber.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a micro flow device for electrochemically adjusting the pH of fluid and a method for adjusting pH by utilizing the same. SOLUTION: This micro flow device has a chamber 105 equipped with a metal capable of adsorbing hydrogen gas as a cathode 101 and a metal without reacting with water since it has a higher standard oxidation potential than that of water, as an anode 103. Gas is not produced by electrolysis in the chamber. Since the gas is not generated during the electrolysis, problems such as solution flow obstruction, flow regulation inhibition, mixing inhibition, reaction inhibition and problems caused by gas bubbles in a micro flow channel such as heat generation and substance transfer do not occur, and a gas-discharging port and separated gas-removing device are not required so as to be able to contribute to the small-sizing of the micro flow device.
