摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connector capable of reliably calking the covering part of an electric wire and a terminal metal fitting in a state of the terminal metal fitting mounted on a connector housing. SOLUTION: A cover 43 integrally molded through a hinge 17 is provided on the rear end of the main body part 2 of a housing 1. When a terminal metal fitting 7 is mounted on the housing 1 in a state of putting the cover 43 in an opening position, an insulation barrel 40 of the terminal metal fitting 7 is opened. An electric wire 21 is fixed by calking the electric wire 21 to the insulation barrel 40 by a crimper 42 and an anvil 41 from above and below the terminal metal fitting 7 in this state.

SOLUTION: Pressure contact parts 15F, 15R are provided in two portions with a space in the longitudinal direction, and three pieces of elastic pieces 19F, 19C, 19R as total for pressing a covered conductor 20 under a pressure contacting condition to an edge part of a slot 18 are provided to form zig-zag arrangement in the vicinity of the pressure contact parts 15F, 15R in sidewall parts 12L, 12R. When the covered conductor 20 is brought into pressure contact, the elastic pieces 19F, 19C, 19R press a core of the covered conductor 20 to the edge part of the slot 18, and the core is crushed thereby to fill a gap between element wires. The mutual element wires contact closely in this manner to prevent contact failure.

SOLUTION: A wire holding space Sa and a preliminary space Sb are provided to hold a coated wire 35 from both sides thereof between a pressing peace part 23 and a connector housing 10. Accordingly, the covered wire 40 can be firmly pinched between the wire holding groove 13 and the pressing part 22, and even if a tensile force is applied to the covered wire 40 in its axis direction, the covered wire 40 is reliably prevented from being deformed in the axis direction.

Thereby the metal piece 2 is inserted when the retainer 3 takes the open position, and is engaged by the retainer 3 to prevent slipping off when the retainer 3 is displaced to the retaining position by the spring 4.
