    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly perform the operation of removing a second housing by means of a jig. SOLUTION: A male housing 10 is shaped with a hood part 12 surrounding the periphery of a tower part 11 which has a cavity therein, with a front-type retainer 20 attached to the front end of the tower part 11. A jig 45, having a hook part 47 provided at the end of a handle 46, is provided for separating the retainer 20. The rear edge of a vertical groove 41 cut in the lower surface of the retainer 20 is used as a hooking face 42, and a jig insertion groove 40 is formed in the overhanging part 22 of the lower edge of the rear face thereof. An upgrade guide face 51 is formed in the position of the lower surface of the hook part 21, corresponding to the depth of the jig insertion groove 40. When the hook part 47 of the retainer 20 is inserted from the jig insertion groove 40, the hook part 47 rises along the guide face 51, to enter the vertical groove 41 and face the hook part 42 at a position slightly in front of the hooking face 42. Next, by pulling the jig 45 backward, the rear end of the handle 46 remove the retainer 20 is removed.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent rattling between internal and external housings. SOLUTION: On the outer circumference of the rear end of a sealing ring 40 is provided a flange 44, the outer edge thereof reaching nearly the center of the thickness of a leading edge 12A of a small hood section 12. A C-shaped taper surface 45 is formed on the front corner of the outer edge of the flange 44. When two housings are about to fit in together, the leading edge 12A of the small hood section presses the taper surface 45 against a back wall 22A and resiliently reduces the outer edge of the flange 44 in the direction of its thickness, exerting force to press the flange 44 against the outer circumference of a terminal accommodation section 21. When an inner housing 20 is pushed into a given position, a lock arm 30 restores its normal orientation, but the internal housing 20 is pushed backward by bouncy restoring force in the direction of the thickness of the flange 44, thereby an engaged surface 35 of the lock arm 30 being resiliently pushed against an engagement section 15.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate a rattle between female and male housings so as to prevent minute slide wear between terminal fittings. SOLUTION: This connector is constituted in such a way that a lock arm 30 having a projection 31 is formed into a cantilever shape so as to bend and deform in a female housing 10 and a locking face 37 capable of locking in a locked face 32 of the projection 31 is formed in a storage part 35 formed in a hood part 22 of a male housing 20. Elastic displacement parts 40 are formed at left and right corners of a front face 10A of the female housing 10, and a pressing part 45 is formed at a corresponding position of an innermost face 22A of the hood part 22. The female housing 10 is fitted into the hood part 22 by bending and deforming the lock arm 30, and the pressing part 45 comes into contact with the elastic displacement part 40 and is elastically displaced at the end. When they are fitted normally and the operation of the lock arm 30 returns, the female housing 10 is pushed and returned due to a restoration elastic force of the elastic displacement part 40, and the locked face 32 of the projection 31 is elastically pressed against the locking face 37.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify a locking mechanism and reduce insertion force by forming the side wall itself of a housing in the form of a cover capable of opening and closing instead of a retainer. SOLUTION: A housing 10 has a terminal fitting housing 11 in which a terminal fitting 20 is surrounded and housed. A cover-shaped side wall 15 is formed by cutting out part of a side wall so as to be capable of opening and closing. A projection 15a serving as terminal fitting locking structure to be locked in the inside terminal fitting 20 is formed on the opening/closing tip side, projections 15b, 15b are formed on the side surface so as to be capable of opening with a jig 30. When the terminal fitting 20 is housed, the cover-shaped side wall 15 is floated up with the jig 30, and a jetty 15a is shunted from the terminal fitting housing 11. After the terminal fitting 20 is housed, the cover 1 shaped side wall 15 is returned and locked with the jetty 15a. By this constitution, the locking mechanism other than a lance is obtained without the use of a separate retainer.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To render a compartment waterproof without a complicated housing structure and with small fitting force. SOLUTION: A female housing 10 is composed of an inner housing 11 having cavities 14 into which female-side terminal fittings 2 can be inserted and an outer housing 12 accommodating the inner housing 11. In a male housing 40, a small hood part 42 into which the inner housing 11 can be fitted is formed, and male-side terminal fittings 44 are mounted protruding into the small hood part 42. A second gel material 46 is penetrated by the male-side terminal fittings 44 so as to be previously mounted on the deep surface 42A of the small hood part 42. Upon fitting both the housings 10, 40 together by operating a lever 50, the second gel material 46 is compressed between the deep surface 42A of the small hood part 42 and the front surface 11A of the inner housing 11, and thus waterproofing is performed between both the housings 10, 40 and between the cavities 14 of the inner housing 11 at the same time.

SOLUTION: A female housing 10 is composed of an inner housing 11 which has cavities 14 and an outer housing 12 into which the inner housing 11 can be fitted. At a rear wall 18 of the female housing 10, insertion openings 20 being associated with the cavities 14 are formed. In the outer housing 12, the inner housing 11 can be latched at a temporary latching position at which an accommodation space 33 with a specified depth dimension is formed between the inner housing 11 and the rear wall 18 and, behind the temporary latching position, at a main latching position at which the accommodation space 33 shrinks to almost half its initial volume. First the inner housing 11 is mounted at the temporary latching position, and then a first gel material 34 is accommodated in the accommodation space 33 in an almost natural state. As female-side terminal fittings 2 are inserted into the cavities 14 through the first gel material 34 in an uncompressed state so as to be fitted into the mate housing, the inner housing 11 is pushed into the main latching position so as to compress the first gel material 34.
