    • PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for welding as well as to raise the bending and shearing resistances and deformation performance of the joint structure by a method in which connecting steel members are inserted into through holes of the side wall of a steel tube, and concrete is placed into the steel tube for fixation. CONSTITUTION:Through holes 4 are formed in the side wall of a steel tube 1, and one ends of connecting steel members 3 consisting of iron bars are inserted into the steel tube 1 and fixed with filling concrete 5. The other ends of the connecting steel members 3 are fixed to footing concrete 2. Therefore, the need to connect the steel tube 1 with the connecting steel members 3 by welding is eliminated, and bending moment and shearing force on the connections are transmitted in terms of the drawing and shearing resistances of the connecting members. Since the flow of the force is directed from the connecting steel members 3 to the steel tube 1 by friction with the concrete in the wall face of the steel tube 1, no stress concentration occurs as compared with the case of the conventional welded structures.

    • PURPOSE:To manufacture small and large cylindrical steel plate shells simply and quickly, by forming single cylindrical body from a hoop steel plate and connecting the cylindrical bodies in vertical direction by welding. CONSTITUTION:A coiled hoop steel plate 10 is sent between the fixed part and movable part of a clamper 1 by a feeding roll and set to cylindrical form, and cut at the cylindrical part. Then, a fluid cylinder 8 is operated and the steel plate 10 is held from both sides by the fixed part 6 and movable part 7. It is then bent to cylindrical form giving specified curvature, and the front end and rear end are welded to form a single cylindrical body 11. Next, the cylindrical body 11 is suspended and moved upward. A new single cylindrical body 11 is formed by similar way, and these cylindrical bodies are tack welded and moved upward. An automatic welding machine is operated and connected part between single cylindrical bodies 11, 11 is welded from inside and outside. By repeating this process, a cylindrical steel plate shell of necessary depth is obtained.
