    • PURPOSE:To decrease the generation of noise without using a cover for a steel pipe, by a method wherein, when the steel pile is driven, hammering is effected in a condition in that the interior of the steel pile is full of water, and water at the interior is caused to flow out through a drain hole along with setting of the steel pile. CONSTITUTION:The interior of a steel pipe pile 8 is filled with water 11, a drain cap 13 is attached to the upper part of the steel pipe pile 8, and a low noise cap 4, a cushion 3 made of wood, and a hydraulic hammer ram 2 are located above the cap. When, with the hydraulic hammer 2 actuated, the steel pipe pile 8 is driven, the water 11 in the steel pipe pile flows out through a drain hole 13a along with setting of the steel pipe pile 8, and is recovered to a water collection tank 15 through a hose 14. This enables decrease in the generation of noise during driving of the large and long steel pile.

    • PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for welding as well as to raise the bending and shearing resistances and deformation performance of the joint structure by a method in which connecting steel members are inserted into through holes of the side wall of a steel tube, and concrete is placed into the steel tube for fixation. CONSTITUTION:Through holes 4 are formed in the side wall of a steel tube 1, and one ends of connecting steel members 3 consisting of iron bars are inserted into the steel tube 1 and fixed with filling concrete 5. The other ends of the connecting steel members 3 are fixed to footing concrete 2. Therefore, the need to connect the steel tube 1 with the connecting steel members 3 by welding is eliminated, and bending moment and shearing force on the connections are transmitted in terms of the drawing and shearing resistances of the connecting members. Since the flow of the force is directed from the connecting steel members 3 to the steel tube 1 by friction with the concrete in the wall face of the steel tube 1, no stress concentration occurs as compared with the case of the conventional welded structures.
