    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a stepped metallic tube by which the occurrence of seizure is suppressed when cold expanding a tube. SOLUTION: A plug 10 for expanding a tube including a tapered part 20 having the surface the outside diameter of which is gradually enlarged from the top end toward the tail end and a stellitic build-up layer which is formed on the surface of the tapered part is prepared. Successively, the plug 10 is inserted into the metallic tube 50 and the tube end of the metallic tube 50 is cold expanded. After expanding the tube end, the plug 10 is pulled out of the metallic tube 50. In the cold expansion of the tube, by forming a stellite build-up layer on the surface of the plug 10, the seizure is prevented equally to the coating film of a conventional cemented carbide and by coating method.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tube stock of excellent dimensional accuracy by keeping a taper plug in the full-float condition with one pair of four-roll stands as large diameter roll and with the other pair as small diameter rolls to dispense with the positional adjustment of the plug. SOLUTION: In a tube rolling mill in which hole type stands of four-roll type are continuously arranged, a large diameter roll bites a tube stock 4 and moves it in the axial direction. A small diameter roll 2 follows the tube stock 4 and is turned to prevent a tapered plug 3 from being pulled inside the tube stock 4 after the thickness is reduced. The tapered plug 3 is arranged on the inner surface of the tube stock 4 so that the diameter Dp of a parallel finished part meets the condition of the formula I. The small diameter roll 2 is of non- driven roll, and has the diameter of the groove bottom so that the biting angle θs of the tube stock 4 is (2β+2)-25 deg.. The tube stock 4 is cold rolled by displacing the center of rotation of the large diameter roll pair to the roll-advancing direction from the center of rotation of the small diameter roll 2 pair within the range to meet the condition of the formula II.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain the bar of dissimilar diameter in the necessary length with good accuracy by using the slanting rolling mill made by biholding the rolls in the necessary number by facing to a pass line and forming the bar of dissimilar diameter from a cylindrical blank by adjusting the distance between the roll and pass line with oil pressure.
