摘要： PURPOSE:To attain fusion splicing of both multicore and single core optical fibers by setting up a fusion discharge current value and an optical fiber inserting length at the time of fusion discharge electrically to a condition for single core optical fiber fusion splicing by the operation of a change-over switch. CONSTITUTION:Variable resistors 14a, 14b are arranged in parallel and connected to a change-over switch 15. The variable resistor 14a is set up so that the discharge current is 19mA, the variable resistor 14b is set up so that the discharge current is 15mA and both the discharge current values can be selected for multicore and single core optical fibers by the operation of the change-over switch 15. An improved inserting movement length setting mechanism can be obtained by adding a pair of an inserting movement length detecting plate 29 and a sensor 30 to an ordinary device and the pair of units are connected to a change-over switch 31, so that the inserting movement length can be set up to single core positions 27, 28 and multicore positions 29, 30 by switching the change-over switch 31. Consequently, the discharge current value and the optical fiber inserting movement length at the time of discharge can be set up by the operation of the change-over switch, so that fusion splicing of both the multicore and single core optical fibers can be attained.

摘要： PURPOSE:To make a welding connection which forms a small-sized connection part with high strength by using a multicore batch fusion splicing device by reducing the diameter of the coating part of a single-core optical fiber core lengthwise by heating, drawing, etc., and then coupling plural thinned optical fiber cores together. CONSTITUTION:Single-core terminals which are so worked as to have a coating external diameter equal to the pitch p' of optical fibers of tape cores and their coatings are fused to join plural cores, thus forming a terminal. Namely, coatings of single-core fibers are heated and drawn lengthwise to equalize the pitch of optical fibers in tape cores to the coating external diameter of a single- core fiber. Then, plural cores are bundled and joined together opposite fibers in tape cores. For the purpose, fiber coating joint parts are heated and fused. Consequently, tape cores and single-core fibers are easily connected together by using the multicore batch fusion splicing device.

摘要： PURPOSE:To perform secure fusion by storing one or more couples of optical fiber end parts whose clads are removed in guide grooves opposite each other, lowering a clamp head which is variable in applied pressure vertically, and fusing the fiber end parts. CONSTITUTION:Cores 102 of one or more couples of optical fibers after their end parts are removed are put in guide grooves 107 of a guide member 108 and moved axially to set the end parts of the fibers 102 opposite each other. Then, the clamp head 5 is rotated around a shaft 8 and lowered vertically to clamp the optical fibers 102. The applied pressure of the clamp head 5 is controlled by adjusting a current supplied to the coil 2 of an electromagnet 1 according to the quantity and material of the cores 102. Then, the contact parts of the optical fibers 102 are fused and spliced. Consequently, accurate fusion and splicing are possible even if the number and material of optical fibers are different.

摘要： PURPOSE:To form a connecting part which has a high strength and is small in size, by covering a covering removed part with a heat treatment tube, forming a single core by bringing it to heating contraction, collecting plural pieces of tip parts of this single core and forming them as one body. CONSTITUTION:A heat contraction tube 5 is inserted to a covering removed end of an optical fiber which has removed a covering 1 of a single core I, and subsequently, by a heat contraction tube heating heater 6, the heat contraction tube 5 is brought to heating contraction. The single cores I of the same number as that of optical fibers 2' of a tape core II are collected, contained in a substrate 8, centering around the covering removed end 7 of the single core I, and thereafter, a substrate 8' is fitted and stuck by an adhesive agent 9. In this case, a groove of a width which can contain plural pieces of single cores I is formed on the substrate 8, and the adhesive agent layer 9 is stuck to the upper face of the groove. By containing in terminal forming tools 10, 10', a pitch of the optical fiber 2 is matched to a pitch P' of the optical fiber 2' of the tape core II. In this way, a welding connection of the single core and the tape core can be executed easily by using a multicore batch welding connecting device.
