CONSTITUTION:An optical connector adaptor 1 whose sectional shape is a regular square has a split sleeve 2 for positioning and coupling an optical connector ferrule 3 which has been attached to the end part of an optical fiber core wire 7, and a fitting hole 6 is provided on two sides opposed to each other, of an inserting part of a cap 4. The cap 4 is inserted into the end part of the optical connector adaptor 1 and presses the optical connector ferrule 3 in the axial direction through a pressure spring 8, has two pieces of projections 5 which are fitted into the fitting holes 6 of the adaptor, inserted in such a direction as the projection 5 of the cap 4 is positioned in the diagonal line direction of the adaptor at the time of coupling, and constituted so that coupling is realized easily by rotating the cap 4 and fitting the projection 5 into the fitting hole 6 of the adaptor 1.

    • PURPOSE:To exactly attach and detach only one plug by using a plug inserting sleeve having a hole part engaged to an optical connector plug in one end, and an attaching/ detaching jig of a cylindrical body having a projection at the tip in the other end. CONSTITUTION:At the time of coupling an optical connector, an optical fiber cord A in which an optical connector plug 20 is installed at the tip from a slot part 15 of an optical connector attaching/detaching jig 10 is allowed to pass through the inside of the jig 10. Subsequently, a plug inserting and holding part 21 of the plug 20 is engaged to a hole part 12 in a plug inserting sleeve 11 formed in one end of the jig 10. In such a state, by grasping a handle 17 of the jig 10 and inserting the optical connector plug 20 into an optical connector adaptor 30, coupling is realized, and thereafter, the jig 10 is drawn and removed. Next, at the time of releasing the coupling of the optical connector, the cord A is allowed to pass through the inside of the jig 10 from the slot 15 of the jig 10, and the jig 10 is inserted into the plug 20. In such a case, a projection 14 provided on the tip of a claw part 13 is fitted into a groove part 23 of the outside periphery of a plug drawing-out and holding part 22. In such a state, when the jig 10 is drawn, the plug 20 is drawn out of the adaptor 30.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce the thickness of the collar part of a sleeve coupling part where a ferrule fits to a sleeve and to permit the miniaturization of the ferrule by forming the outside peripheral part and collar part of the sleeve coupling part of a reinforcing pipe and forming the inside of a molding resin. CONSTITUTION:The outside peripheral part and collar part 2 of the sleeve coupling part 1 where the ferrule and the sleeve fit to each other is formed of the reinforcing pipe 3 and the inside is formed of the molding resin 4. The pipe 3 for reinforcing the outside peripheral and collar parts of the sleeve coupling part is formed of an integrally worked metal. The inside surface of the pipe 3 is worked with ruggedness 6 and a step 5 is worked in the collar part 2 to increase the joint area between the pipe 3 and the internal molding resin part 4 and to improve the adhesiveness. The outside peripheral part and collar parts of the sleeve coupling part are formed of the reinforcing pipe in the above- mentioned manner, by which the thickness of the collar part (outside diametral step) is decreased to about 0.3mm. The miniaturization of the ferrule is thereby permitted.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the connection loss fluctuation caused by performing and not performing PC coupling, and connection loss fluctuation caused by multiple reflection by constituting an optical fiber connector pulling core sections at the coupling end parts of optical fibers into a clad. SOLUTION: In order to average a connection loss without performing PC coupling on the end faces of optical fibers to be coupled, the clad is pulled in more than the core on the end face of optical fiber. Namely, the top end position of end face of core is always positioned equally with the top end position of end face of clad or pulled inside more than it. On the end face of optical fiber 10 composed of a core 10a and a clad 10b surrounding it, for example, the core 10a is pulled with respect to the clad 10b while having a recessed curved surface. Otherwise, the clad and the core are formed into continuous recessed curved surface on the end face of optical fiber and the central section of core is most pulled inside. Otherwise, the outer peripheral edge of clad is rounded.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce the coupling loss of a single mode fiber by giving certain correlations between the direction of eccentricity of the optical fiber guide hole of an optical connector ferrule and the direction of coupling of an optical connector plug to an adapter to attach the optical connector ferrule to the optical connector plug. CONSTITUTION:An optical connector ferrule 1 consists of a collar part 11, a resin molded part 12, a coupling part 14 around which a metallic pipe 13 is formed into one body, and an internally provided optical fiber guide hole 15. An extent 16 and a direction 18 of eccentricity of the optical fiber guide hole to the ferrule are precisely measured, and a mark 17 or a ruggedness 19 indicating the direction of eccentricity is provided on outside peripheral surfaces of ferrule collar parts 11 and 11'. The mark 17 on the optical connector ferrule 1 where this mark 17 of the eccentricity direction 18 is provided on one side of the regularly polygonal collar part 11 of the ferrule and a projecting part 3 provided on the outside peripheral surface of an optical connector plug 2 are allowed to correspond to each other to attach the optical connector ferrule 1 to the optical connector plug 2, and the direction of eccentricity of the optical fiber guide hole 15 is limited to a certain angular range to perform coupling. Thus, coupling is performed with a very small loss relatively easily.
