摘要： PURPOSE:To obtain an optical connector ferule made hard to absorb moisture even if allowed to stand under a high humidity condition and reduced in dimentional change by adding a reaction product of a reactive water repelling material to the surface part or interior of the optical connector ferule. CONSTITUTION:A reaction product of a reactive water repelling material is added to the surface part or interior of an optical connector ferule. As the reactive water repelling material, a silicone material is pref. and the reactive water repelling material is pref. infiltrated by a vacuum impregnation method allowing the optical connector ferule to stand under a vacuum condition for 30min-5. After vacuum impregnation, the surface of the ferule is wiped off by a solvent. That is, in the case of the optical connector ferule having a guide pin inserting hole 2, an optical fiber inserting hole 3 and an optical fiber inserting opening part 4 provided thereto, the ferule is immersed in the reactive water repelling material to be allowed to stand in a vacuum thermostatic tank and subsequently taken out Next, the oil on the surface of the ferule and in the guide pin hole 2 and the optical fiber hole 3 is wipen off and the wipen-off ferule is allowed to stand in a thermostatic tank at 150 deg.C to cure the impregnated oil.

The individual optical fibers are placed on the corresponding exposed parts 15 of the large-diameter parts and the insertion of the optical fibers is executed by viewing the exposed parts 15 of the large-diameter parts of the large-diameter parts 14 of the insertion holes from this window part 16. The optical fibers projecting to the ferrule penetration part 12 are projected to the front end face of the ferrule through the small-diameter parts 10 of the insertion hole when the optical fibers are placed on the exposed parts 11 of the small-diameter parts and are further moved.

摘要： PURPOSE:To enable the easy mounting of the ultra-multiple optical fiber to an optical connector. CONSTITUTION:Optical fibers 23 exposed with one end of a coated fiber ribbon 27 are inserted toward the multiple optical connector 25 arrayed and formed internally with V-grooves 24 for fixing the optical fibers. The coated fiber ribbon 27 is then lifted upward from the holding position of the multiple optical connector 25 in such a manner that the optical fibers 23 attain a prescribed insertion angle with the V-grooves 24. The optical fibers 23 are tightly fitted into the V-grooves 24 with high accuracy by utilizing the repulsive force of the bending of the optical fibers.

The optical waveguide substrate 2 and the fitting pin holding members 3 are fixed by adhesives 6 in the position where the intensity of the light emitted by this adjustment is maximized. Next, the optical waveguide substrate 2 is removed from the stage for the optical waveguide substrate and the fitting pin holding members 3 are removed from the moving stage. The connectors are removed from the fitting pin holding members 3 and both ends of the parts 1 are polished.

CONSTITUTION:In the top surface of the V-grooved guide substrate 1 of silicon, plural optical fiber V grooves 2 and guide pin V grooves 3 are formed, and oxide films 4 are formed on their surfaces. This V-grooved substrate 1 is made of silicon and the optical fiber V-grooves 2 and guide pin V-grooves 3 are formed by, for example, cutting. Then, the silicon is oxidized with a diffusion system to form the oxide films 4 on their surfaces. The oxide films 4 are formed into a specific width at least nearby the guide pins of the guide pin V-grooves 3. When the oxide films 4 are too thin, fine tracks do not decrease and when too thick, on the other hand, the strength decreases, so the film thickness is preferably 0.01-2.0mum. Further, guide pins for coupling preferably use zirconium for preventing abrasion.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical connector that can be easily fitted to an optical fiber in a short time and can securely be coupled with a short optical fiber. SOLUTION: A ferrule 1, which has its tip polished, contains the short optical fiber 2 so that it projects from the rear end. A base member 3 which fits it in a hole 3b is provided with a V groove 3d for fixing the glass part of the optical fiber and a V groove 3e for fixing the clad part, and covered with a cover member 4 from above. The base member 3 and cover member 4 are clamped by clamp members 5a and 5b and the base member 3 is pressed against the V grooves 3d and 3e. Wedges are pressed in between recessed parts 3g and 4c, and 3h and 4d of the assembled optical connector and after the optical fiber 10 is inserted from the rear part, the wedges are removed to fit the optical connector to the terminal of the optical fiber 10.
