    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ruthenium catalyst immobilized in a macromolecule that holds such an activity enabling the system to efficiently perform oxidation reaction of alcohol without using a cocatalyst and a reoxidant, is easily recovered and recycled after use, leaks no metal, and never deteriorates any activity even if it is used repeatedly. SOLUTION: The macromolecule immobilized ruthenium catalyst where ruthenium metal is supported in a cross-lined macromolecule by allowing a ruthenium precursor to react with a crosslinking macromolecule with a side chain having an aromatic side chain and alkoxysilyl group is provided. This catalyst leaks less metal than in a conventional immobilized ruthenium catalyst, is easily recovered, and hardly causes activity to be deteriorated after it is recovered.
