    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a hard disk drive which can precisely control the floating height of the magnetic head while completely preventing the magnetic head damages due to the contact with the magnetic recording medium, and also to provide a hard disk drive and a floating height adjusting method of the magnetic head.
      SOLUTION: This manufacturing method provides for a hard disk drive incorporating a magnetic recording medium and a head gimbal assembly 20 having a magnetic head 3 facing the magnetic recording medium to record and reproduce information. It includes a step of detecting the contact of the magnetic recording medium and the magnetic head 3 with the sensor 2 attached to the head gimbal assembly 20, and adjusting the head floating height by using the adjusting mechanism to control the floating height of the magnetic head 3 on the magnetic recording medium.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium which resolve heat decay problem without degrading electromagnetic conversion characteristic (especially for OW characteristic) for attaining high recording density by improving SNR and narrowing PW50 even when a magnetic core having high saturation flux density is employed in a writing head.
      SOLUTION: The magnetic recording medium comprises a magnetic recording film 3, a soft magnetic film 4, and a protection film 5 on a non magnetic base 1. While the coercive force of the magnetic recording film 3 is equal to or more than 2,500 Oe, the film thickness of the soft magnetic film 4 is within 0.2 to 0.5 nm, and the saturation flux density of the soft magnetic film 4 is equal to or more than 1.5 T.
