    • PURPOSE:To obtain an instrument provided with a thickness correcting material for automatically following the configuration of a tread even when a tire is rotated by immersing the inspected portion of the tire in a liquid with an X-ray transmittance approximate to that of the tire. CONSTITUTION:A mechanism for rotating four holding shafts 12 is provided in a rotationally suspending apparatus 11 having the four holding shafts 12. Two flanges are formed near the distal end of each holding shaft 12 to position a tire 50 in the direction of its width. A water tank 15 with a bottom made of a material having a good X-ray transmittance is disposed below the tire 50 and can be vertically moved in accordance with the diameter of the tire 50. The lower portion 51 of the tire 50 is immersed in a liquid, for example water, with an X-ray transmittance approximate to that of the tire 50 in the liquid tank 15. A semicircular metallic supporter is mounted with an X-ray generator 21 for radiating X-rays to its top and an X-ray receiver 22 for receiving a transmissive image to its bottom. Therefore, the intensities of the X-rays that transmit the groove portions and the crest portions of the tread are substantially equal to each other in the receiver 22 and, even when the tire 50 is rotated, water gets in the lower tread, enabling the whole circumference of the tire 50 to be smoothly inspected.

    • PURPOSE:To detect easily the existence of a hardened part in a bagged cement by pressing it with a certain pressure or giving it an impact at first and then subjecting the cement to X-ray penetration test. CONSTITUTION:A bagged cement 1 carried in by a conveyor belt 10 is introduced between conveying rollers 2 and pressing rollers 3 to receive mechanically a certain external pressure, and then carried to the inlet of a X-ray penetration tester with a conveyor belt 11. Here X-ray is applied to the bagged cement 1. Cracks developed in a hardened part of cement are displayed on a TV monitor 8 through an image tube 6 and a TV camera 7. When cracks are detected, the bagged cement 1 is stamped with a mark that shows it is defective or removed from the conveyor belt 11 by a selection device. with the above described detection work existence of a hardened cement can be easily detected.
