Before a hinge arm 30 is bottomed to a cowl top side 22, at this time, the pressing portion 54 at the distal end of the rod 20 is caught once at a bent portion 60 and the rod 20 is further deformed in a flexural manner. That is why an intermediate reaction force builds up when the pressing portion 54 is caught once at the bent portion 60, thereby capable of decreasing a bottoming load at an ending stage of energy absorption.
