    • PURPOSE:To exactly measure the quantity of oxygen without contaminating molten Si to be measured by coating the entire part of the outside surface of a solid electrolyte in contact with the molten Si with a cover of Si having the purity equivalent to or higher than the purity of the molten Si to be measured. CONSTITUTION:The oxygen sensor is constituted by coating the entire outer surface of the solid electrolyte 8, in which a standard material 9 is housed, with the high-purity Si cover 18. The SiO and solid electrolyte 8 contained in the atmosphere gas in the atmosphere are, therefore, shut off by the cover 18. The solid electrolyte 8 and the cover 18 are fixed to a protective pipe 20 together with a thermocouple 14 and a counter electrode 7 by cement 19. Then, if the entire part of this probe is immersed into the molten Si, the cover 18 melts and the outside surface of the solid electrolyte 8 comes into direct contact with the molten Si. A battery circuit is thereby formed and an electromotive force E is generated. This oxygen sensor is the same as the oxygen sensors of the conventional types except that the cover 18 exists and that the material of the counter electrode 7 is the Si having the purity equal to or higher than the molten Si to be measured.

    • PURPOSE:To measure the amount of particles in a liquefied gas correctly by promptly evaporating the liquefied gas which is kept sufficiently cold, heating the vaporized gas again and measuring the amount of particles therein. CONSTITUTION:A liquefied gas to be measured, for example, liquefied N2 gas is kept in the sufficiently cooled state by a liquefied gas of the same kind as the to-be-measured gas in a vacuum double pipe of heat insulating material so as not to turn to vapor until it enters an evaporator. When the liquefied gas is to be instantly vaporized in the evaporator, it is preferable to use an oil bath or a water bath as a heat medium. Then, the vaporized gas is heated again to approximately 100 deg.C or higher, more preferably, approximately 200 deg.C or higher to vaporize the ice in the liquefied gas. The particles in the vaporized gas are measured by a laser particle counter. According to this method, it becomes possible to measure the amount of particles in a liquefied gas other than liquefied N2 gas, for instance air, Ar, CO2, He, H2, Ne, O2 or the like.
