Further, plural continuous areas are detected by a continuous area detecting means 5 and the existing range of the picture element in the other picture, which corresponds to the respective plural picture elements to be included in the continuous area, is limited by a corresponding point existing range limiting means 6. Then, the corresponding is executed between the plural picture elements to be included in the plural continuous areas and the plural picture elements of the other picture by a second corresponding processing means 7. CONSTITUTION:The most right side point in the left picture data is defined as a left picture right edge point and detected by a left picture right edge point detecting means 11 and the most left side point in the data is defined as a right picture left edge point by a right picture left edge point detecting means 12 in each scanning line. A point to be most resembled to the most left side point in the left picture data is defined as a left picture left edge point and detected by a left picture left edge point detecting means 13 and a point to be most resesembled to the most right side point in the right picture data is defined as a right picture right edge point and detected by a right picture right edge point detecting means 14 in each scanning line. Then, these points are made correspondent in each scanning line by a corresponding means 15. Thus, by determining the corresponding point, the adverse influence, which is caused by a part to exist only in one of the right and left scanning lines, can be removed.

A corresponding processing part 20 makes each edge point correspond in the area from the starting edge candidate till the termination of the left picture, and in the area from the starting edge of the right picture till the termination candidate of the right picture. Based on a result, a corresponding point calculating part 22 makes each picture data correspond.

On the other hand, a correction counter 154 presetting the count of the counter 151 counts down in response to the output of a monostable multivibrator 144 triggered by a sum signal when the pickup crosses the identification part and a borrow signal is a pseudo track cross signal S154 and the speed control is applied without any hindrance even at the crossing of the identification part at the high speed pickup movement. As a result, the high speed seeking is also applied.

    • PURPOSE:To avoid an edge cut and unnecessary edge extraction and to stabilize the edge extraction by using the differentiating value of an observed picture element and a neighboring picture element and the direction of differentiation and updating the differentiating value of the observed picture element with being repeated. CONSTITUTION:An edge detecting circuit is composed of image memories 1, 3, 4 and 6 a differentiating circuit 2, a selector 7, an edge updating circuit 8 and an edge extracting circuit 5. Thus, an input image stored in the memory 1 is differentiated by the differentiating circuit 2 and the obtained differentiating value is written through the selector 7 to the memory 3. Then, the differentiating direction is directly written to the memory 4. Next, the data of the memories 3 and 4 are read by the edge extracting circuit 8 and the new differentiating value is computed with using the differentiating value and differentiating direction of the read picture element and neighboring picture element. Then, this value is written through the selector 7 to the memory 3. This update operation is repeated only by a designated number. Then, when the threshold of the read picture element and neighboring picture element is larger than the threshold set in advance '1' is written through the circuit 5 to the memory 6 and when it is smaller, '0' is written.
