    • PURPOSE:To obtain a tone suitable for read-in of the character information, by using the peak hold circuit and bottom hold circuit, and combining the outputs so that they are applied to the converter as the upper and lower reference voltage determining the range of conversion of the converter. CONSTITUTION:The original to be electrically transmitted is read in at the photoelectric conversion circuit SNS. The output voltage from the circuit SNS is applied to the resistor R1 of the peak voltage hold circuit PH and the resistor R2 of the bottom voltage hold circuit BH. The terminal voltage of the capacitor C1 holds the peak value of the output of the circuit SNS and the terminal voltage of the capacitor C1 holds the bottom value. The hold voltage is received at the DC amplifiers AMP1, AMP2 and applied to the reference voltage terminals VR(+)IN, VR(-)IN up and down the converter A/D. The converter A/D converts the digital signal in 4-bit. The converted digital signal is output to the output terminals OUT0-OUT3 and transmitted to the transmission line.

    • PURPOSE:To correct shading of a fascimile, by using the combination of an optical and an electric methods, effectively using the dynamic range of an image sensor and making unnecessary mechanical high precision. CONSTITUTION:In reading in the original 1 having many kinds of read-in widths with one image sensor 7 through the selection of lenses for B4 size 5 and A3 size 6 or movement toward light axis, one B4 side shading correction plate 3 is used and the same incident light amount is given to all the bits of the sensor 7. An image sensor drive circuit 8 which adjusts the cancellation of clock noise and required level for output is connected to this sensor 7, and the circuit 8 is controlled with the output of a peak hold circuit 9 constituting the automatic slice circuit. Further, in case of read-in of B4 size or less, the plate 3 only is used, and at the read-in of A3 size, through the combination of electric correction stroed in ROM13, the shading is corrected without sacrificing the dynamic range of the sensor 7.
