    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module having a structure where optical axis deviation does not occur at the time of YAG laser welding.SOLUTION: The optical module of the present invention includes: a flat plate type base 11 having a predetermined thickness; an optical semiconductor package 12 which is mounted on a plane of the flat plate type base 11 and in which an active optical element is hermetically sealed; a waveguide optical element 13 which is mounted on the plane of the flat plate type base 11 and which guides light from/to an optical fiber 16; an optical lens 14 which is mounted on the plane of the flat plate type base 11 and which connects the optical semiconductor package 12 and the waveguide optical element 13; and a lid 15 with a frame which is fixed on the plane of the flat plate type base 11 and which covers the optical semiconductor package 12, the waveguide optical element 13 and the optical lens 14.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module which has high stability in characteristics, and requiring a low cost, in the optical module optical-coupling an optical waveguide array and an optical function element array by a lens optical system.SOLUTION: An optical module comprises an optical waveguide array 2 having a plurality of light emission/incident ports, an optical function element array 5 having a plurality of light emission/incident ports, a lens optical system which uses at least one lens 3 concentrating a light beam transferred between both to optical-couple both, and a mirror 4 disposed so as to change a transmission direction of the light beam transferred between the lens optical system and the optical function element array, in a housing. The optical function element array 5 is fixed to the housing directly or through a sub mount and the like. A layout angle of the mirror 4 is adjusted so as to optical-couple the optical waveguide array 2 and the optical function element array 5, and the mirror 4 is fixed to a part of the housing directly or through a fixing jig and the like.
