    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress a gap between a plunger and a sleeve from being extended by the effect of inner diameter contraction by press-fitting in spite of a structure such that the sleeve is easily fixed to a housing by press-fitting.SOLUTION: The chain tensioner includes the sleeve 12 having a bottomed cylindrical shape, which is mounted within the housing 11; and the plunger 13 sliding in a sleeve axial direction X within the sleeve 12, in which a biasing force in a chain laying direction X1 is given to the plunger 13 by hydraulic pressure within a hydraulic chamber 17. The sleeve 12 includes a sliding section 21 having a uniform inner diameter, on which the plunger 13 slides through a predetermined gap ΔS1, and press-in sections 22 and 23 which are fixed by being press fitted to press-fitted sections 28 and 29 of the housing 11. The press-in sections 22 and 23 are located out of the sliding section 21 with respect to the sleeve axial direction X.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spline structure which can address a change in temperature as well as enable improvement in balancing capability by restraining play from being generated.
      SOLUTION: There is provided a spline structure including a spline shaft 2 formed parallel, in its circumferential direction CD, with a plurality of ridges 4 extending in its axial direction AX and a spline sleeve 3 whose inner surface is formed with a tooth bottom for receiving the ridge to be fitted thereinto. In the spline structure, a protrusion 6PR formed from resin on the outer surface of the spline shaft and/or on the inner surface thereof is provided within a region where the outer surface and the inner surface are radially opposed to each other. The protrusion is provided in the region where the outer surface of the spline shaft and the inner surface thereof are likely to contact with each other and therefore the play can be prevented from being generated, thus enabling improvement in the balancing capability.
