    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical chip which increases the housing ratio of an optical chip and has a shape for stabilizing optical characteristics of an array waveguide diffraction grating type optical multiplexing/demultiplexing circuit, since the optical chip housing ratio per waveguide substrate is low when the chip shape is rectangular and optical characteristics are unstable when the chip shape is segmental in the conventional optical chip of the array waveguide diffraction grating type optical multiplexing/demultiplexing circui, and to provide a layout on the waveguide substrate of the optical chip, and a method of manufacturing the optical chip. SOLUTION: The optical chip is designed to have a projecting shape in which the center is bulged out to one side. Also, the waveguide substrate has the layout in which the array waveguide diffraction grating type optical multiplexing/demultiplexing circuits are arranged combinedly with the curved direction of the array waveguides alternately inverted.
