    • PURPOSE:To correctly suspended a prescribed number of steel plates by installing a processing means which cuts off the supply of the exciting current after suspended objective articles are suspended and restarts the supply of the exciting current when detection value of an electric current detecting means lowers to the second electric current value which is smaller than the first electric current value. CONSTITUTION:After n+1 pieces of steel plates are suspended by the flow of the excitation current having the first electric current value, the excitation current is cut off, and after the electric current which flows in an exciting coil 52 reduces to the second electric current value, the flow of the exciting current is restarted by a processing means RCU. The min. value of the magnetic attractive force which acts between the exciting coil 52 and a steel plate 71 is determined according to the second electric current value. In other words, if the magnetic attractive force which acts between the n-th steel plate corresponding to the second electric current value and the n+1-th steel plate is set less than the downward force w(n+1) which acts onto the n+1-th steel plate, the n+1-th steel plate can be dropped, and a prescribed number (n) of steel plates can be suspended correctly.

    • PURPOSE:To facilitate automatization of control of a number of steel plates to be hung by providing an electromagnet having a magnetic material core and an excitation coil, magnetic flux detecting means for detecting magnetic flux passing one part of the magnetic material core, current supply means, means for vertically moving the electromagnet and a processing means. CONSTITUTION:A mutual relation of previously obtained excitation current of an excitation coil 52 and magnetic flux to pass through one part of a magnetic material core 51 by a search coil 53 (magnetic flux detecting means) to the total thickness of steel plates magnetically attracted by a lifting magnet 5 (electromagnet), is stored in a microcomputer CPU (processing means). Supply of the excitation current by a current supply unit REG (current supply means) and upper driving of the magnet 5 by a vertically moving means are provided, and in such a condition that one to plural sheets of steel plates are hung by the magnet 5, the total thickness of the steel plates, magnetically attracted to the magnet 5, is detected from the excitation current, supplied by the current supply unit REG and from the magnetic flux detected by the search coil 53.

CONSTITUTION:Supply of an excitation current, required for hanging up steel plates of quantity larger by at least one sheet than the assigned quantity, is indicated to a current supply means by a control means, and supplying the excitation current by the current supply means while upper moving a lifting magnet 5 (electromagnet) by an arm 3 (vertically moving means), an instantaneous cut of the excitation current is commanded to the current supply means in a condition that a plurality of sheets of steel plates are hung up by the magnet 5. Thus, the steel plate, attracted in the lowermost position, is dropped down. That is, even in the case of hanging up the steel plates of a quantity larger than the assigned quantity, the quantity is adjusted to the assigned value, and a control of the hanging up quantity of the steel plates can be automatized.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce the time for measuring length and to improve the accuracy in measurement by providing devices for cutting and positioning the preceding end of a long-sized rolled material, a carriage mounted with a television camera movable in parallel with the longitudinal direction of the long-sized rolled material, etc. CONSTITUTION:A measuring device for length has a long-sized steel plate 1 which is a measuring object, cutting and positioning devices 7, 8, 9, a carriage 3, etc. The device 7 is a gate type stand installed across the long-sized steel plate, and the device 8 is two units of beam projectors which project parallel beams having the space equal to the width of the product plate on the plate 1, is installed on the stand 7 and is so fixed as to be made movable in the transverse direction of the plate. The device is so constituted that the product length is displayed on a display device 12 for the position of the carriage by a detector 5 for the position of the carriage upon ending of positioning, and the product length is determined according to the length thereof. The time for measuring the length is reduced and the accuracy in measurement is improved by the above- mentioned constitution.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce the region where flaw detection of a steel sheet edge part is not performed, by deflecting incident angles of left and right vibrators in divided type vertical probe, and transmitting ultrasonic beam to the edge part side. CONSTITUTION:A sound dividing surface 5 of the probe 2 is placed parallel to the steel sheet edge 8 and as near as possible to the steel sheet edge 8, and the probe 2 is scanned in a direction 9. Ultrasonic incident angles of a transmitting vibrator 3 and a detecting vibrator 3a are regulated to different angles respectively, and the beam propagating positions are deflected to the edge part 8 side. By reducing a nonsensible band 11 of the part 8, the region where flaw detection is not performed in the part 8 is reduced.
