    • PURPOSE:To prevent the gnawing of sludge into electricity conducting rolls and to improve the quality of an electroplated steel plate in the stage of applying electroplating on the steel plate in a horizontal electrolytic cell by ejecting an electrolyte of the same quality on the steel plate on the inlet side of said rolls thereby cleaning the steel plate. CONSTITUTION:A steel plate 10 to be electroplated is passed between upper, lower electrodes 3 and 4 with two sets of backup rolls 1 and electricity conducting rolls 2, and an electrolyte is ejected from upper, lower electrolyte ejecting headers 5, 6, whereby both surfaces of the plate 10 are electroplated. Here, the electrolyte of the same quality is blown from one of the edge parts of the plate 10 to the other with a ejecting nozzle 13 to the steel plate 10 on the inlet side of the roll 2 whereby the surfaces are cleaned and the stuck foreign matter such as sludge is removed. The flawing of the electroplated surfaces owing to gnawing of the foreign matter is prevented and the quality and yield of the plated steel plate are improved.

A plating component deposited on the nonplated side 6 is dissolved in the soln. 4 to finish electrolytic stripping.
