SOLUTION: The active hood device 10 is equipped with an actuator 12 and a lifting-up mechanism 16. The lifting-up mechanism 16 is constituted of a link mechanism 22 as the major component. On the front end section of a first link 24 which becomes an input link, a roller pin 32 which slides along a guide 20 is arranged. In the meantime, to the distal end section of a piston rod of the actuator 12, a piston head 46 is attached. The actuator 12 and the link mechanism 22 are relatively rotatably joined in such a manner that the front end section of the first link 24 is pinched by a pair of right and left head plates 50 while the roller 32A of the roller pin 32 is engaged with notches 60 on the distal end sections of a pair of the right and left head plates 50.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an active hood device capable of being exactly returned to the approximately original state by manual operation after the hood is lifted up. SOLUTION: The active hood device 10 is constituted such that a hinge bracket 18 fixed with an actuator 12 is fixed to a body by a pair of bolts 70, 72 set to the same pitch as movement stroke δ of a roller pin 32. A release cover 62 moved with the roller pin 32 at operation of the actuator 12 is mounted to the roller pin 32. The pair of front/rear bolts 70, 72 is covered with the release cover 62. A penetration hole 74 is formed on the release cover 62 at a position just above the front side bolt 70. Thereby, when the actuator 12 is operated to move the roller pin 32, the release cover 62 is integrally moved and the penetration hole 74 is positioned just above the rear side bolt 72.
