The ventilation means has a ventilation pipe body section 3 wherein a series of air ducts 31 are formed, and the base end part of the ventilation pipe body section 3 is connected to the upper wall part or the wall part in its periphery of the auxiliary chamber 23 while at least a part of the ventilation pipe body section 3 rises upward, so that the air ducts 31 communicate with the auxiliary chamber 23 and extend upward above the base end part.     • PURPOSE:To make it possible to set a gas secondary pressure safely by a method wherein when a gas secondary pressure at the high performance side is controlled, in the case that it is decided the temperature of the coming-out hot water will exceed a specified temperature if it is heated by the maximum rated heating volume of a combustion device, according to the input from a water temperature sensor and water volume sensor; and number of combustion tubes is automatically changed over to reduce it. CONSTITUTION:At the time of setting for a gas secondary pressure at the high performance side, when a high performance press button switch SW1 is turned on, it is operated when the temperature of water becomes a specified temperature, e.g. 100 deg.C or higher, or not, by the input for in coming water temperature and water volume detection from a water temperature sensor 7 and water volume sensor 8. When the temperature is decided to be not more than 100 deg.C, by opening a main solenoid valve SV0, performance change-over solenoid valves SV1, SV2, SV3, all combustion tubes are made to burn, and the secondary pressure on the high performance side is set. Also, when the temperature is decided to be 100 deg.C or higher, by opening only the main solenoid valve SV0, performance change-over solenoid valves SV1, SV2, the number of combustion tubes is automatically reduced, and it is made possible to set the secondary pressure at the high performance side under the unboiling condition.

A water temperature Tc of water flowing into a main water passage 2 and a water volume Q1 flowing in a heat exchanger 1 are detected and then a gas proportional valve 8 is FF controlled in such a way as hot water of the target temperature THS is fed out of the heat exchanger 1 under a control of gas amount FF control part 15. If it is confirmed that a water amount Q1 passing through the heat exchanger 1 is more than an assured flow rate Qm of MOQ, and that a bypassing servo valve 4 is not fully closed, an outlet temperature TH of the heat exchanger 1 and a mixing temperature TM are detected. When the detected temperature TH and TM are near the target temperature THS and the set temperature TMS (for example, 1.5 to 1.0 deg.C), the servo valve 4 is stopped and a spare hot water feeding mode is applied to FB control the gas proportional valve 8. In the even that the value is not present within the aforesaid range, the gas proportional valve 8 and the servo valve 4 are FB controlled to supply hot water of set temperature TMS.
