    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable transfer or copying of files between storage devices through a network safely, simply, and at a high speed.
      SOLUTION: A communication terminal 10 equipped with a slot 16 for mounting a storage device 18 is connected to an IP network 2. The terminal 10 performs connection processing to an SIP server 1 of the IP network 2 so as to be able to connect to a receiving side terminal 10 simply by dialing. After connection, data in the storage device 18 of the slot 16 of the transmitting side communication terminal 10 are encapsulated into an RTP packet and transmitted to the receiving side terminal 10. Meanwhile, the receiving side terminal 10 retrieves data from the received IP packet of an RTP format and stores them as data of the same format as the data transmitted from the transmitting side, and thereby a file can be transferred or copied between storage devices through a network safely at high speed.

      SOLUTION: A communication terminal 10 is connected to an IP network 2 controlled by a SIP server 1, the communication terminal 10 including an image reading means 14b, a printing means 15a and a telephone number input section 14a and being connected with the IP network 2 to originate a call using a telephone number and to perform VPN connection. The communication terminal 10 at a transmitting side performs connection control using a SIP protocol to connect with a receiving-side communication terminal, packetizes image data read by the image reading means 14b, encapsulates the image data into an RTP packet and transmits it to the receiving-side communication terminal 10 by performing tunneling. On the other hand, image data are extracted from the transmitted IP packet and printed in the receiving-side communication terminal 10, thereby transmitting a FAX image at high speed.
