摘要： PURPOSE:To permit easy and quick setting of strands of multi-cored optical fibers to V-grooves by simultaneously cutting the strands of the multi-cored optical fibers, then arraying the front ends of the multi-cored optical fiber strands by using an adapter formed by using comb teeth and fitting the fibers together with the adapter into the V-grooves. CONSTITUTION:The fiber retaining adapter 5 is attached onto an upper base plate 3 of a fixing jig for termination. The fibers are inserted to the adapter 5 in such a manner that each piece of the fibers enters the spacing between the comb tooth to eliminate the disturbance in the front end part of the fiber tape cores 1 at the time of stripping the covering of the fiber tape cores 1 with the comb teeth 5c at the front end of the adapter. A step is provided to the multi-cored V-grooves 6a and the head part of the adapter 5 is fitted to the step part, by which the optical fiber tape cores are fixed into the multi- cored V-grooves 6b. The cores 1 enter the corresponding grooves of the V- grooves 6a if the adapter 5 and the V-grooves 6a are worked with high accuracy. The extremely easy setting of the cores 1 to the V-grooves 6 is thus permitted.

摘要： PURPOSE:To simplify the fiber connection work and to shorten the connection time with a low-cost device by allowing a part of each optical fiber to face a guide groove of a supporting base and applying an oscillation force to both optical fibers at the time of positioning. CONSTITUTION:Parts of two optical fibers 7, 8 whose terminals are preliminarily formed are allowed to face guide grooves 3 and 4 of a supporting base 1, and they are pressed in the direction perpendicular to axial lines to position them on the supporting base 1, and thereafter, terminal faces of optical fibers 7 and 8 are butted and they are melt-fixed by heating. Since the oscillation force is applied at the time of pressing both optical fibers 7 and 8 in this case, both optical fibers 7, 8 are surely guided to bottoms of guide grooves 3 and 4. Thus, the fiber connection work is simplified in case of connection of multicore optical fibers because the occurrence of axial deviation is reduced at the time of positioning of optical fibers 7, 8. In case of connection of single core optical fibers, fibers are connected with a low-cost device and the fiber connection time is shortened because a driving device, etc., which is required in a conventional method is unnecessary.
