    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chromate-free coated galvanized steel sheet which has extremely excellent corrosion resistance, workability, scratch resistance, chemical resistance or the like without using hexavalent chromium whose environmental load is high.SOLUTION: In the surface treated steel sheet, at least one side of a galvanized steel sheet is provided with a silicon oxide-based film, and on the surface of the silicon oxide-based film, an organic resin-based film is coated. The organic resin-based film includes at least one kind selected from a carboxyl group, a hydroxyl group, a sulfonic acid group and a silanol group in the structure. The ratio (I/I) of the infrared absorption spectrum intensity Iderived from Si-OH to the infrared absorption spectrum intensity Iderived from an Si-O-Si bond, in the silicon oxide film, is at least 0.1.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface-treated metallic material which does not include harmful hexavalent chromium, has high corrosion resistance, and has adequate solvent resistance and workability.
      SOLUTION: The surface-treated metallic material is made by applying a treatment liquid comprising a water-soluble thermosetting resin, a cross-linking agent, and a polyphenol compound, on a metallic material. Preferably, the water-soluble thermosetting resin is selected among a polyester resin, an epoxy resin, and a urethane resin; the cross-linking agent is selected from an amino resin and isocyanate; and the polyphenol compound is tannic acid, and is contained in an amount of 0.1 mass% or more but 50 mass% or less with respect to the total solid content. The surface-treated steel sheet employed for the metallic material is preferably a galvanized steel sheet. The treated film preferably includes, with respect to the total solid content, silicon oxide of 1 mass% or more but 40 mass% or less, an organic-Si-based compound and/or an organic-Ti-based compound of 0.1 mass% or more but 30 mass% or less, and a solid lubricant of 1 mass% or more but 40 mass% or less.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a galvanized steel sheet coated with a chemical conversion coating film, capable of being used for home electric appliances, car components or the like, which does not contain hexavalent chromium to reduce an environmental load, and mainly contains an inorganic component so as to be used also for heat resisting applications. SOLUTION: (1) The galvanized steel sheet superior in heat resistance and corrosion resistance, is obtained by treating a steel sheet with a conversion coating solution, which contains the inorganic components of a trivalent chromium compound (A) and water dispersible silica (B) as main components, and further a component for giving lubricity (C), and water. (2) The galvanized steel sheet superior in heat resistance and corrosion resistance is obtained by treating a steel sheet with the conversion coating solution according to claim (1), wherein a ratio of solid of the component (B) is 10-90 wt.% to the total solid of the coating solution of 100 wt.%. (3) The galvanized steel sheet superior in heat resistance and corrosion resistance according to either one of claim 1 or 2 is the one wherein the solution includes a metal salt of nitric acid (D) as an additional component, and the metal in the metal salt of nitric acid includes at least one kind selected from the group consisting of alkaline earth metals, Co, Ni, Fe, Zr, and Ti.
