摘要： PURPOSE:To reduce the generating frequency of breakout by sticking ceramic chip so as to thin the thickness and make the heat conductivity highly from the upper part to the lower part of a mold made of the metal material step by step. CONSTITUTION:On the inner surface of the copper plate 2 as the main constituting member of the mold 1, the ceramic chips 3 are arranged. Further, an Ni part 4 gradually thickened according to come to downward is arranged. A cooling box 6 is arranged in the outer part to form a cooling water passage 5 in this box. By pouring molten steel 8 into the inner part of the mold 1 till molten steel surface 9, the solidified shell 7 is formed. The ceramic 3 is divided into multi-steps in the upper half part of the mold 1 and the thickness is thickened at the uppermost part and gradually thinned according to come to downward so as to make the heat conductivity highly. By this method, the service life of the mold having excellent wear resistance can remarkably be extended.

摘要： PURPOSE:To make possible the solidifying casting below stable molten metal surface by giving heating temp. in the upper half part direction of a mold with a heating body arranged at the back side of ceramic chips and continuously casting while keeping the vicinity molten surface to molten state. CONSTITUTION:The mold 1 is constituted with a copper 2 and the ceramic chips 3 as the main constituting member, and an Ni part 19 improving wear resistance and the heating body 4 arranged at the back side of the ceramic chips 3. Further, the cooling water passage 9 is arranged. By using this mold 1 for continuous casting, the necessary heating temp. is given in the width direction of the upper half part in the mold 1 with the heating body 4, the continuous casting is executed while keeping the molten metal 17 near the molten metal surface 18 to the molten state. Then, a temp. sensor 10 is arranged, and by inputting this temp. signal, the temp. of the ceramic chip 3 is controlled so as to become the necessary temp. by using a control circuit. By this method, the generating frequency of breakout can remarkably be reduced.

This chemical structure allows the excellent lubricating performance by only one kind of ceramics with the molten metal and the solidified shell, and a strong joining performance by the adhesive with the copper plate.

摘要： PURPOSE: To provide a method of detecting a metal insertion position which is conventionally impossible to be detected only with single direction scanning of a vortex sensor. CONSTITUTION: There is provided a method of judging metal insertion in which a vortex sensor 1 is scanned parallely to the shell of a steel making refractory 3 and metal insertion is judged based upon the difference between a detection amount estimated from a spiral sensor output measured at the time of only iron skin when it is new and a vortex sensor output after the use. In the method, the improvement is such that the surface of the refractory is photographed with a camera 5 and presence of any crack is judged based upon a change in the brightness of a photographed video image. When the presence of any crack is detected with the camera 5 and no output change from the vortex sensor is provided at that part, the vortex sensor 1 is rotated by a predetermined angle at the crack position around a vertical axis perpendicular to the refractory to observe the output change, and when the output of the vortex sensor is increased compared with the case where the vortex sensor is rotated through a predetermined angle, it is judged that there is metal insertion in the crack.
