    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a sound weld metal having satisfactory low temperature toughness and free from slag-in at the tip of a bead, in downward multiple electrode submerged arc welding.
      SOLUTION: The downward multiple electrode submerged arc welding method for producing one molten pool is characterized in that, when a weld metal having a tensile strength of 800 to 1,200 MPa is produced by downward multiple electrode submerged arc welding, among a plurality of electrode wires, one or more electrodes are composed of a metal-cored wire(s) comprising O of 0.03 to 0.50% by mass% to the whole wire, and the remaining electrode(s) is composed of a solid wire(s), and also, a specified componential flux is used, thus a weld metal having high strength and high toughness and having no welding defects can be obtained.
