    • PURPOSE:To carry a steel piece or the like being kept warm for improving the effect to roll it as such, by projecting the discs of disc rolls arranged in zigzag manner on the floor surface of a heat-retaining box whose entire surface is insulated from heat, and providing a means for piling cast pieces at the outlet zone of the box. CONSTITUTION:Hot cast pieces discharged from a continuous casting machine are piled up, mounted on a receiving table 9 by a crane or the like and charged in a heat-retaining box 1 whose front and back, right and left, and up and down surfaces, i.e. six surfaces in total, are insulated from heat. The top ends of disc rolls 4 arranged in zigzag manner along the direction of carrying the hot cast pieces are projected beyond the bottom surface of the box 1, to carry the cast pieces. The load of said rolls 4 is supported by back-up rolls 5. On the other hand, a lifting withdrawer 8 is provided at the outlet zone of the box 1, e.g. for gripping a hot cast piece S-2, lifting it (raising S-2-S-5) and expelling the lowermost hot cast piece S-1 onto a withdrawing table 10 by the rolls 4. In this way, the lowermost hot cast piece is continually expelled to inhibit the falling of a temperature.
