    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a masher device which can be arranged in a horizontal pass line, and does not take much time and labor to adjust it, and can stably mash the burr generated by trimming. SOLUTION: The masher device is arranged in a pass line which moves thin steel sheets 1 having a thickness of 0.1 to 0.4 mm in the horizontal direction. An upper block 4, which has an upper masher roll 3 and rolls the thin steel sheets 1 by its tare weight, is arranged above a lower block 6 having a lower masher roll 5 so as to move up and down or so as to open and close. It is preferable that the tare weight is 12 to 20 kg. Because of the tare weight rolling reduction system, chatter vibrations as generated in a rolling with a spring are not generated. Further, it is preferable that a clearance adjusting mechanism is provided in order to hold the clearance between the upper masher roll and the lower masher roll so as to be larger than a required value. In the case that the temp. at both edge parts of the steel strip rises and exceeds the allowable value of the high temp. strength of the heating roll 1 material, the heat strain is accumulated and the surface crack, deformation, etc., are developed. It is desirable to restrain the heating of the heating roll 1 after the temp. lowering at both edge parts of the wide steel strip does not develop, in order to prevent these troubles in the heating roll. The development of a defective shape of the steel strip is prevented.
