    • PURPOSE:To control cooling speed together with target temp. to desired values in the stage of controlling cooling with the flow rate of the refrigerant to be sprayed to a traveling heated steel strip by determining a heat transfer rate by the equation including a target cooling speed and setting the flow rate of the refrigerant. CONSTITUTION:A steel strip 10 which is annealed continuously is cooled in a cooling zone 20 provided with nozzles 20-1-20-n for spraying refrigerant and advances to the next overaging stage. The thickness h, target start temp. and end temp. for cooling theta1, theta2 and target cooling speed Re of the strip 10 are inputted from a computer, etc. of high order to a computer 50 for control. Here, a heat transfer rate alpha is determined by the equationI(gamma: the specific weight of the steel strip, cm: the specific heat of the same, DELTAthetam: the logarithmic average temp. difference between the steel strip and the refrigerant). From said rate, the density W of the refrigerant flow rate is determined by the equation II (K2, a, b: constants in accordance with experiment, G: the density of atomizing gas flow rate). In order to obtain the desired temp. theta2, cooling length L is determined by the equation III (v: the traveling speed of the steel strip) and the nozzles corresponding to the same are turned on. The alpha, L are calculated again with respect to the change in the thickness h and the speed v, and the flow rate of the refrigerant and the on-off of the nozzles are corrected and controlled.

    • PURPOSE: To uniformly cool a strip at a high speed by specifying the distance between the tip of an each cooling gas blowing nozzle and the strip and the projecting length of the nozzle and pressing the strip perpendicularly with press rolls which are so disposed as not to face each other.
      CONSTITUTION: The strip S subjected to heating and soaking is introduced into a cooling zone where the cooling gas is blown from the nozzles 18 of gas injectors 15 disposed to face each other along a passing line of the strip S to cool the strip. The nozzles 18 are projection type round hole nozzles which are provided zigzag in a large number on the front face 17 of a cooling chamber 16. The distance Z between the strip S and the tips of the nozzles 18 is specified to ≤70mm and the projecting length (h) of the nozzles is specified to ≥(100-Z)mm. A pair of the press rolls 31 are disposed diagonally to the strip S to press the strip surface in the perpendicular direction by a driving device 33. The fluttering of the strip S is thereby thoroughly prevented and the uniform cooling of the strip in the transverse direction thereof is efficiently executed.
