    • PURPOSE:To improve the quality and yield of a product by installing the troughs used for guiding the head part of a steel stock and the loop control surface of flat floor as well as arranging loop-position detectors. CONSTITUTION:Troughs 14, 15 projected upward for guiding the head parts of steel stocks are installed on the surfaces 16, 17, consisting of flat floors and used for controlling the loops of stocks. Further, infrared loop detectors 18, 19 for detecting their loop positions, are arranged above the range of loop formation. The detectors 18, 19 detect automatically the positions of steel stocks and control automatically the number of revolutions of the rolls of the next stand so that the stocks being rolled parallelly in two rows pass the central parts of control surfaces 16, 17 respectively. Therefore the scratches of steel stocks passing on the control surfaces of flat floors are remarkably reduced, and the quality and yield of the product are improved.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent omissions of punching and occurrence of troubles of facilities by a method wherein the ends of a plurality of steel pieces are aligned by a stopper before punching and expansion of the pieces in width direction is restrained and the number of the pieces is detected to compare it with the number of the pieces based on an automatic tracking and the information is corrected in the case of abnormality to punch the number. CONSTITUTION:Before punching, the ends of steel pieces 1 are aligned by a stopper and the lateral expansion of the pieces 1 is restrained by means of a hydraulic cylinder 11 and a clamp guide 7 of a clamp device 3, wherein amount of movement X of the clamp guide is measured by means of a rack 12 and a pinion 13 in association with the cylinder 11 and a pulse oscillator 14 to obtain the accumulated width of the actual steel pieces by subtracting the amount X from known maximum width L and said accumulated width is divided by the width size of the pieces 1 to calculate the accumulated number of the actual steel pieces. Next, the calculated accumulated number is compared with the number based on automatic tracking. And at the normal time punching is performed based on the automatic tracking information and at the abnormal time the punching information based on automatic tracking is corrected as abnormal output to perform punching.
