    • PURPOSE:To improve the quality and the yield of a cast slab by pouring molten steel while adjusting the opening degree of an opening/closing plate of a molten steel pouring nozzle in a ladle in a specific condition. CONSTITUTION:Beforehand, the equation I is stored in a sequencer 16 and the shifting distance in the slide direction of a supporting device 8 for long nozzle 6 is obtd. with a range finder 20. This distance is introduced to the sequencer 16 and the opening degree with an upper and a lower plates 4, 5 is calculated and inputted to a controller 17 to execute a setting value control. This signal is introduced to a hydraulic unit 18 to control the calculated opening degree by adjusting the sliding of the lower plate 5. The molten steel is poured while adjusting the nozzle opening degree with the opening/closing plates 4, 5 based on the equation I at the initial stage of pouring the molten steel 2 in the following ladle 1 and at the end stage of pouring the molten steel in the previous ladle. In the equation I, the nozzle opening degree = DELTAL-B, wherein, DELTA1 is the shifting distance in the slide direction of a counter wt. of the supporting device for long nozzle, DELTAL is the shifting distance of the lower plate in the sliding nozzle, K1 is the proportional constant of DELTA1 and DELTAL and B is the distance between the inner diameters of the upper and the lower plate holes at the time of wholly closing the sliding nozzle.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuous casting method for molten steel capable of performing stable operation by preventing the defect due to hydrogen in the molten steel and heat extraction defect.
      SOLUTION: In the continuous casting method for the molten steel, mold powder having hydrogen absorbency is added to the molten steel 5 in a casting mold such that the hydrogen included in the molten steel 5 in the casting mold 1 is absorbed into the mold powder and therefore, the heat extraction defect due to the hydrogen can be prevented and the operation can be stabilized. Also, the mold powder is so prepared that 6 to 20wt% alumina is contained therein and the basicity of the mold powder is within a range from 1.3 to 2.0 and, thereby the hydrogen absorbency can be improved, the heat extraction defect due to the hydrogen can be surely prevented and the operation can be stabilized.
